This isn't technically a rec.

Does anyone know a website for good vegetarian recipes?

This site is just so-so.

I like Gojee (hunch.com/item/hn_3768321/gojee-food-recomendations/) for new recipes. You can type in "meat" or "vegetarian" into dislikes and only get veg-friendly recipes.

I just found this and might make it this weekend.

This hilarious blog chronicles the online dating shenanigans of a couple of eligible twenty-somethings in NYC.

I like that it shows the universal shittiness of trying to meet someone on OK Cupid.

One of my favorite contemporary novels. Touching and funny; beautiful language. Alternates points of view between young teenage girl and an old man, intertwining plots. Set in NYC.

Post-modern brit goes epic historical adventure story--set in 18th century Japan. Fun. Lots of critical praise when it came out.

You may have noticed that in the summer your city seems hotter than the suburbs and that the temperature doesn't exactly go down at night.

This phenomenon is known as the Heat Island Effect, where urban areas become and remain warmer than suburban areas due to the prevalence of heat retaining materials such as concrete.

Not to mention the increasing # of A/C units spewing out heated air to the exterior that gets trapped between city buildings.

Yum! This place is great for lunch. I got a very spicy tofu sandwich, which was delicious. I also tried the coconut waffle, which was green. (? - I'm not sure why coconut = green, but whatever...)
The service was excellent. The nice lady server even gave me a free cup of milk when I burned my mouth off with jalapenos.

The report uses California as a case study to explain how climate change will disproportionately affect low-income communities.

Did you know that African Americans living in LA are twice as likely to die from an extreme heat event than other LA residents?

Neither did I. Deepen your environmental education here, kids.

So, these are supposed to be "healthy", but I think they must be made out of crack because they are so good.

I'm not sure if they give you extra energy, I don't know if they're actually good for you. I just know they taste like sunshine and happiness.

This is one of my favorite places on Earth. This beautiful desert is owned by the BLM and features craggy mountains, trippy looking rocks, hot springs and occasional nerve-jangling fly-overs by the US Air Force. Ya know. Testing the toys.

I love this soap. It suds really well and the olive oil leaves your skin smooth and well moisturized. Great for girls and boys. All organic ingredients, too!

My dad, who loves meet and hates "hippy food", even liked it.

I wouldn't go to this bar for any other reason than to watch sports, but for that purpose, this bar is AMAZING. I didn't count the number of TVs when I went last night to watch the Mavs win the NBA finals, but I think there must be at least a million. Plenty of seating, too. Don't get the nachos.
