Fabulous start to a wonderfully written Series, I'm on my second time around with the series and enjoying it even more than the first time.

The first of a 20 volume series detailing the careers of Captain Jack Aubery and his friend Dr. Steven Maturin. Set during the Napoleanic wars, and beautifully written these books are filled with pursuit, battles, espionage, and a healthy dose of natural history. Most people I've recommended it to pick it up skeptically and wind up reading all 20 and wishing for more.
