One of the most eye-opening books I've ever read. Until humans discovered how common salt is, the quest for it dominated much of life across the globe. This book tells the history of salt at the moments it impacted wars, technology, trade, migrations and food supplies. Fascinating lens through which the author analyzes major historical events.
