This is a place for inspiration and genius. I hated 'Eat, Pray, Love,' but loved the author's talk. Same with J.K. Rowling. Steve Jobs was brilliant. There is a lifetime of learning and joy here.

It's very good to know, especially when all the news is bad about seemingly everything, that there are people with amazingly interesting ideas out there. Public Television should replace their depressing oldies concerts with TED talks. Alternate the talks with Nature, Nova, and re-runs of the Muppets. I'd contribute to PBS again.

Inspiring, interesting, disturbing, jaw-dropping. The ideas that TED talks spread cover a wide range of topics and generate all kinds of reaction. The only certainty you have before you watch is that you will get out of it changed forever.

Interesting talks across a whole spectrum of ideas. Lots of worthwhile stuff -- at a different pace than most other internet-bred videos. This stuff is sometimes splashy, sometimes shiny, but frequently smart, motivated, and challenging. (p.s. I wish hunch could recommend which TED talks to see next, too...)

This is a forum for big thinkers, opinion leaders. and movers/shakers. Very entertaining. I visit this site at least once a week. The short videos are digestable and easily absorbed. But it doesn't make them any less powerful. The big ideas are crystallized to their essence.

If you're as sick and tired of all the crap on TV, do like I do and try to enrich your mind by watching and listening to some of the brightest, bravest, most progressive, or most enchanting minds out there.

It's a great conference! Consistently great speakers and a much-emulated format. Even if you don't attend, you can see all the talks online.
Cons: Expensive to attend, and there are rarely space available. You need to be invited, which leads to charges of elitism.
