The wildest academic paper I've read in recent memory, these Japanese researchers were able to reconstruct visual images from brain activity.
Essentially as you are looking at an image (a person, a block of text, a bowl of jello), they are able to "see" the image or read the text by looking at blood flow in your brain. Wild!
