The sujet, the story, the language - breathtaking. Learned so much about Greek, Turkish and American history. And enjoyed a large scale family saga. A definitive must-read in American literature.

I've read this book years ago and it is awesome. It's one of those stories that you still think about long after you are done reading it.

The sort of story you can really get into. Tracks an inbred family though the generations, starting with their immigration to America from Greece. Only half as strange as it sounds.
