Pros: more than twice as many years as the original series, so it had time to develop more character(s); some absolutely classic episodes and story arcs. MANY deep / powerful stories. Cons: Rarely had the humor of the original series.
Some of the best science fiction ever done for TV. However, there were many episodes that jumped the shark. I DVR the series now and skip past the bad ones to watch the gems. I hope Q doesn't sick the Borg on me.
Absolutely fabulous sci-fi series. Stewart, Spiner, Sirtis, Dorn and Frakes all deliver an awesome performance! Highly imaginative episodes that take Star Trek from the silly to the serious and awesome!
First few seasons were excellent. Revived science fiction television. Had some good concepts and addressed some deep issues Cons: Victim of series-itis. Characters that should have been promoted and moved on stayed in the show. Also too many holodeck episodes.
Standout performances by Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner. Jonathan Frakes is a fair actor, but an excellent director. Raised the bar for sci-fi television when initially aired. Cons: First two seasons stumble badly as the series finds its voice. Major rehabilitation needed for Wesley Crusher's character before he becomes palatable. Writing sometimes trips up over Trek lore.
