A dark, story-book tale on celluloid. Director Jeunet has an eye for borderline-caricature faces and bold visuals.Strangely modern and old-fashioned.

This movie, from the director of "Delicatessen" and "Amélie", is a movie about dreams. With a cute, strong lead female, and a comically undereducated sidekick, this movie is as suspenseful as it is wondrous and mystical. Together, they must stop a mad scientist who has been abducting orphaned children. A touch of sci-fi with lots of dark fantasy. Dark, dystopian fantasy.
