This is an amazing movie. Helena Bonham Carter is fantastic as usual, and she along with Colin and Geoffrey, plus the rest of the superb cast make for a memorable movie experience.

Brilliant movie! Two men, two classes. Great British/Aussie humor.

There is a reason why this movie was the best movie of 2010 (even though I preferred the black swan).

Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush are both flawless in this film. The telephoto lens gets a bit annoying after a while though.

My favorite movie. Witty and powerful.

Brilliantly acted and just an enjoyable movie. When Oscar moues have become so depressing and heavy, there's nothing wrong with simply having a good time at the movies with a smart, accessible, excellently done film.

If you like historical movies, like i do, sometime different, because Hollywood is having a problem with that these day, then this is the movie for you.

The King's Speech is great, kept me intrigued, and Colin Firth (deserving of the best actor) and Geoffrey Rush are phenomenal. I felt like the film was well composed by director Tom Hooper. However, even with the praise, it just didn't add up to the best for me. A very memorable effort, but I strongly believe there were better films out there in 2011.
If there were 4 1/2 stars, this would get it.

The fight should go ON. Giving up is no excuse . Goals are no match compared to process of overcoming difficulties.

This is not the kind of movie I usually watch...I'm really glad I gave it a chance, :-). The movie is able to be inspirational without being full of clichés or/and overdramatic, what is kind of rare nowadays. Besides, the acting is really great.

Thought it would be 'artsy' and boring. I was wrong. The acting is marvelous especially the amazing relationship between Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush.

Great movie, probably one of the more original ones you will see this season.

Hard to find fault with this movie. Not usually a fan of biopic type films, but the acting, the style and the writing make King's Speech worth every minute.

This is an amazing movie. I saw it at a Sundance Theater and it was amazing. I bought it on blu-ray as soon as I was able and it was amazing. It won a bunch of awards because it is amazing.

Great movie-it truly deserved the Academy Award!
sspirall recommended this 1 year, 10 months ago
Cinematic excellence. Will surprise you as it draws out empathetic feelings you've never experienced toward a filmed character. Colin Firth rises to the herculean task of galling you with his portrayal of "an historical figure overcoming his impediment" (yes, it sounds boring as hell on paper). If you dislike Mr. Firth's roles then see it instead for a supporting cast who propel this tale upwards.
arkajit recommended this 1 year, 10 months ago
Phenomenal acting and all-around good storytelling.
shoshingo recommended this 1 year, 11 months ago
Excellent direction and brilliant script. If you had any doubts about Colin Firth's talent, consider this: the script did not specify where or when he should stutter. There are no pauses in it. Colin decided when and to what extent the stutter should be. Every. Single. Time.
kb8cd recommended this 1 year, 11 months ago
I have a son who stutters so I can see how well Colin Firth shows the agony of not always being in control of your speech and the joy of overcoming.
It is a great movie.

The movie is well made and keeps a nice tension to the unfolding drama of a historical event that is not very well known.

LOVED IT! One of the best movies I have seen ever. It was funny, heartbreaking, realistic, and emotional. It was well-casted and directed with amazingly realistic scene and costume design. It felt like it was really happening while you watch it rather than some period films that feel like it's a movie.

I thought the "The King Speech' was a excellent film and deserve those 4 Oscars
peter recommended this 2 years, 2 months ago
Maybe the best film that you could make about someone who has a stutter? The story was interesting, the characters/actors were great, and the sets and cinematography were absolutely beautiful. (Also, it apparently won best picture at the Oscars.)

Caught this recently and am now understanding why it has gotten so many nominations. Yes, it is a movie full of quiet-ish brits, but the story is interesting, funny and entertaining.
