Hesse's mangum opus which provided him with his Nobel prize. In his fictional war-less future he paints an optimistic humanity in spite of its shadowy feuillton past, (our present). Borrowing themes from his other books, there's is a lot of depth within this onomastic inquiry of servitude and personal responsibility in service to truth. I consistently find myself drawing back on it.
