Switched from Windows 7 to Kubuntu 1.5 years ago, and did not look back. KDE is awesome :)

All the pros of Ubuntu with the cool, clean styling of KDE.
Cons: Slightly less standard than Ubuntu, so some support forum answers won't apply to you.
