Very good series. I know people have started to read the first book but didn't really like it. It gets better as you go on, in my opinion. Keep reading.

Uglies is a prime example of great young adult fiction. Set in a distopian future where beauty is engineered by man, it has action and romance and gadgets and rebellion - everything a teenager could want in a novel.
I read this for the first time when I was eleven and I've been reading the series over and over again since then. My copy is seriously worn out.
