Compelling non-fiction story of a woman who changed the course of history...without her knowledge or consent.

Sounds like it would be a fascinating story behind the story.

This was a interesting story. Just the right amount of science and human interest to make it an easy to read, but informative book. A good mix of technical information and human interest.

The story is mind blowing, but the writing is average.

I just read this book and it's phenomenal.

It's a little light on the science so don't select it for that. But it's a great human interest story and character study. It dives deep into a widespread subculture in our society that I've experienced only remotely.

This book, an amazing work of non-fiction, delivers a moving story that everyone should be familiar with. I don't want to give away anything (although you may already know the basics of the story- ever heard of HeLa cells?), but this woman, simply through her life and death, changed the future of the scientific world (and yours). This is a great book.

Interesting reading both for the memoir-ish part of it and for the science and history.

Captivating account of the family and the impact of medical research in helping many.

These cells are crazy, they've been known to latch to dust motes and cross contaminate lab samples. Super interesting. I recommend this NPR Radiolab episode: www.radiolab.org/2010/may/17/henriettas-tumor/

Very interesting read that doesn't get too science-y, but still enough to hold the interest of someone who may understand more about biology. It tells a very good story that's easy to follow.
