This was the best book I read in 2010. I recommended it to my bookclub and it made for great discussion. It made us all feel more secure about our parenting styles....."at least I didn't ......"

i read this a while ago, but i remember it as one of the saddest and most disturbing books i've ever read. the narrator's fortitude was awe-inspiring.

The Glass Castle was a gift I received along my travels throughout Italy. A couchsurfing host had given it to me, and I have fond memories of reading it during my train rides from Vicenza to the south of Italy. The narrator is funny, clever, and relatable, and you'll find yourself caring about her in this page-turner of a memoir. Highly recommended.

Beautiful, bitter-sweet (at times) memoir from a woman with a moving story to tell. She writes of her rough childhood but tells the story with humor and grace- never once conveying self-pity, either.
