Absurd, surreal, silly, yet witty and clever.
To me, they are still the funniest people ever.

Life of Brian was such an important film culturally. It promoted doubt and critical thinking and that, I just adore.

I don't think I even really need to recommend Monty Python. If you don't already know who they are and that they are absolutely brilliant, you have been living in some sort of cave for your entire life. Life of Brian is a brilliant movie and Holy Grail is pure comedy genius. Just watch Monty Python. All of it. Now. Seriously.

Pioneers of the "British Comedy" genre, this troupe blazed trails well off the showbiz roadmap. Innovative in the use of irony, black humour & animated sequences while reveling in the stomping of absurd/uptight norms. Rewarded with a worldwide posse of fans that can quote LENGTHY dialogue by heart more than 40 years later.
Cons: revisionist of history, routines are still politically incorrect, lol

They are hard to describe. You can't point at any one sketch or movie and say "that is why they are funny." If you have BBC with your cable package try to catch an episode to see the insanity.
Cons: Some references we Americans will have trouble understanding due to lack of a cultural context.

A reference for today's humorists. Made some of the most hilarious sketches ever seen on TV. Life of Brian is simply brilliant.
Cons: You wont' like it if you don't appreciate surreal humour. Some sketches (and films) may be offensive for some people.
