Very influential and a wonderful writer. have read almost all of his work and am very sad that there is a limited number of stuff left read of his. his work is something everyone should appreciate and study. i recommend to everyone for the True Meaning of Art and Masterpiece. :)
The best writer of 19th century England. Still read and enjoyed. His style and content are generally derided today (too sappy, too moralistic, too romantic, also too wordy) but he is great at it. If you want less sugar try 'Great Expectations'.
Copperfield is my least favorite of all Dickens's novels. It reads like Dickens completely lost control of himself and wrote the sappiest story he could think of...
He wrote about things people hadn't wanted to read about before like poverty, prostitution and street crime and commented on the hardships the lower classes of London faced. Cons: Many of his stories take a romanticized view of street life.
