The best new show on tv. A brilliant first season leaves me pining for more. An imperfect comparison would be: Damages meets 24.
I highly recommend it!

Huge fan of Hilary Mason's work & her thoughts on data science -- this infographic is no exception. Love this. Insightful, powerful.

Cute, but do i really need another printer encouraging me to print more things, and increase clutter (+ paper/ink usage)? probably not.

This startup takes a pretty neat approach to learning. Check out the "learn mandarin" or "SAT vocab" demos on the site and you'll see what I mean. Very effective.

I was introduced to Storify at SXSW, where it's utility was apparent: it's a simple, compelling way to capture an event, such as an SXSW panel where the tweets & hashtags are flying, through what people share on the social web. I could easily document a panel through real-time tweets, photos, and YouTube videos.
Bonus: use Storify's APIs to create your own story templates: dev.storify.com

Try the gazpacho (available during the warmer months). It's worth the trip.

One of my favorite essays by DFW. Gourmet mag hired him to write a piece on the Maine Lobster Festival. DFW goes all DFW on the festival.

Just got introduced to his work (Thanks Terry Gross/Fresh Air!). One of his recent covers for The New Yorker was a poignant commentary on the nuclear power plant meltdown in Fukushima, Japan, depicting the branch of a cherry tree with its blossoms replaced by symbols of nuclear radiation. I absolutely love this illustration the dilemma of "what to do with that extra hand while spooning".

Informative Nature piece about Erez Lieberman Aiden, who has done some great research in mathematical biology/molecular biology (with Eric Lander & Martin Nowak). He's probably best known for his role in the field of culturomics. Smart, creative and humble (for proof of the last, take a look at the comments).
