Suggest a new feature (or improvement on an existing one)

Yup. As the title explains, this is the place to suggest a new feature you think we should have, or how we should improve an existing one. Much gratitude for any and all suggestions.

Adding an item using "suggest a solution" is too hard. Item name okay, but then you have to add an image and a url. Once you have a url, why not crawl the web page, pull the images, show them to the user and ask him/her to select the correct one.
As for the url, some guidance would be useful. Do you want the manufacturers site, a store like Amazon, the cnet review?

Why not just search based on the item name and then offer the user choices for image and web site? Then if the user is not satisfied with those results, have the user do all the work s/he has to do now.

iang1 -- yes, you are describing exactly the plan for future item-adding :-). For other non-product items we are planning having Flickr Creative Commons Attribution-only images as well as Wikimedia images shown, so that the user can select from one of them.

Thanks for the input!

thudson, I think I get your drift...we've thought of having something that could be integrated on other sites, ie anything from Dan's Tackle and Bait Shop to Best Buy. This is a Hunch API down-the-line kind of thing, but is on our radar. Thanks!

BTW - iang et al. We implemented the image finding thing a while back. We are still improving the wizard process, but it's not bad for a first pass. Iterate, iterate, iterate.

It would be nice to have the flickr cc/wikimedia image search option that is used for the topics for the image questions as well. I think I am already spoiled by useing that feature.

Flickr and Wikimedia images are included in the image search -- if you go to a topic's image page, such as www.hunch.com/poetry/about/images/ you will see where the images are coming from. However, I notice that the license column is not working as there are a bunch of Wikimedia images in poetry that are unattributed. I'll put in a bug report for it. Thanks!!

I would like to be able to click badges (like for instance Albert's gold apple teacher badge), to see who has reached a certain rank. Promotes both envy and cameraderie, I think. (though there may be stalker/privacy issues I have not yet thought about).
