This show has taught me more about small business management than any book. Hear me out. We all know Ramsay is a hot shot restauranteur, but he's also incredibly empathetic and uncompromising. While this show has its lame gross-out moments, at its heart, it is about inspiring people with their own potential, and teasing out their best performances. You really can't fault anyone for doing that.

Had an amazing time this year. Saw about 23 films in 5 days. Learned a lot about film making from the Q&A awards, and got to meet the Horse Whisperer. You can just show up and amazing things happen. Or plan ahead and still have amazing things happen. This place rules.

Delicious. Fun. Molecular Gastronomy. French. Iron Chef winning. Female chef. Casual. I swear to you, all these things are true about this restaurant and the chef. Strange and fun foods, not for the conservative, but definitely for a fun and tasty night out. Ask nicely to see your dessert being made with an infuser and the liquid nitrogen, and you just might get lucky.

I used to think I was hot stuff when it came to Sake. But "Born" blew me away. Soft, velvety, cool, aromatic - the sake has it all. It's divine. Not super common here in america, this is probably one of the best sakes you can get here without importing it yourself. Not too expensive, but easily the best sake I've ever had in America.

reasonably cheap sports camera - great for scuba diving up to 180 feet, attaching to your skis or snowboard, or even to your car. These things are mostly indestructible, and the video and sound quality is awesome - the HD cameras have stunning image quality that is a joy to watch.

I had never heard of Ayrton Senna, the F1 racecar driver, nor have I ever had any interest in racing at all. This film is made entirely from historical footage and tells the story of Brazilian racecar driver Senna. In a corrupt, political, and elitist sport, Senna shone and was admired worldwide. At the end of this film, you will be amongst his admirers.

This is the true story about Buck Brannaman. You might know him as "The Horse Whisperer". He's a pretty amazing guy. This documentary teases out a bit of how Buck went from a 3 year old trick rope showman into the world-famous horse trainer. Even if you don't care about horses, this film was the only one I saw that earned a standing ovation at Sundance. I cried at least 4 times. Astonishing.

I know this company sounds a little hokey with their biodynamic farm. But I'll tell you what: this is some damn good pinot noir. It is round, lush, and so flavourful. One of my best recent discoveries and still reasonably cheap!

I've used taskrabbit to rip my CD collection to a disk, sell a bunch of old books, pick up some items and fedex them to me, and to pick up some old clothes and donate them. All these tasks were done on time, at a reasonable cost, and all without fuss. I love this site.

I got the AR.Drone a couple months ago - the power in this plane is hard to describe. Within moments of turning this on, I was able to use the controls on my ipad to view live video from the front and bottom cameras on the copter to fly it around my house. Astonishing, fun, and perhaps dangerous? Or at least super impressive!

This band's advertising campaign might have been acted off the pages of William Gibson's book, Pattern Recognition. Mysterious film clips, strange music and locations, no oen taking credit for any of it. iamamiwhoami might be witch house, but who knows. The videos are odd, we know very little about who they are, and the media campaign was fueled by curiosity.

I've never been interested in Elmo - frankly, I find the character annoying; but that's not what this film is about. This is about Kevin Clash (the man behind Elmo) and his lifelong dream of being a puppeteer and the realization of that dream. This was probably the most talked-about film at Sundance.

The best drama I saw at Sundance this year. This movie explores the life of a young woman on the night that another earth is discovered. A car accident, a life changed, and her attempt to fix everything. Lovely, simple, gorgeous. Highly recommended.

A wonderful 'thousand and one nights' type of short story involving time travel, destiny, and true love. A modern classic.

Gorgeous costume drama set during the turn of the century. The acting is amazing, the characters are deplorable and a bit droll, but somehow endlessly entertaining. The music and cinematography are gorgeous.

I read this for my semiotics class and I found it easy to read and gave me great insight into how comics are designed and laid out for maximum effectiveness of communication.

I've had one of these cases since they came out. I dropped mine a bunch of times, and after 8 months, it finally cracked. This is not a super robust case, but it did take a serious beating. Even though their warrenty doesn't support drops, they offered to replace my iphone case for free with a 'second' quality case, or give me 50% off a new one and put me at the front of the queue. Awesome.
