Not Eco's best, but masterful all the same. A whirlwind tour of nineteenth-century Europe and an exploration of antisemitism.

Good movie, really obviously from the '60s. Based on the Cortázar story of the same name. Music by Herbie Hancock and the Yardbirds.

Solid indie pop out of Brooklyn.

My favorite John Zorn project is his avant-surf-jazz-rock band, The Dreamers. This is their new Christmas album. It's lovely.

This is a cool project.

This is wild! This church is made of guns, gun parts, and ammo. Totally aside from the political statement, this is a really cool construction! (My husband calls it "The Church of the Holy Caliber.")

Zany, absurd, self-referential: I like it!

Josh Keyes describes his work as a "hybrid of eco-surrealism and dystopian folktales."

Made by sculptor Isaac Kraus, this fully-functional coffee table is supported by a pretty realistic-looking bronze octopus.

This sci-fi classic (from 1956) is fascinating to watch if only to see what parts still hold up well and what parts seem insufferably hokey today.

This is a virtual who's who in contemporary jazz-rock, featuring Bobby Previte, Skerik, Charlie Hunter, Stanton Moore, Jamie Saft, Steve Bernstein, and Stew Cutler.
The video is a bit odd, and has apparently never been viewed by anyone but me.

No matter what band you enter, it's good for a laugh!

A grim little animated piece...about a rabbit. I think this is my favorite thing on the Internet.

One of the greatest jazz musicians. Often overlooked today because his influence is so pervasive people think he's old-fashioned, which is like saying Shakespeare has too many trite phrases. Also he grew and changed his whole career, so try various decades.

If you like Sergio Leone's classic "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly," then you should check Leone's two earlier Clint Eastwood films, "A Fistful of Dollars" and " For a Few Dollars More." If you don't like "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly"...what is wrong with you?

This movie represents the most achieved form of cinema in the way it conveys tension and emotions. It's the new Citizen Kane: the rise and fall of a man and his empire, but set in a splendid scenery.
Also, a masterfully created soundtrack by Johnny Greenwood from Radiohead.
