The oldest distribution, which has stood true to the philosophy of KISS. Very stable. Closest to UNIX. The following sentence says the remaining -

"If you learn RHEL, you know RHEL but if you learn Slackware, you know Linux!"

Cons - Very conservative toward base package selection. Comparatively primitive package manager that does not handle dependency resolution.

Very Modular, powerful distribution. I have been using it for 6 months and have no regrets. Not for the faint-hearted or a newbie though.

Lightweight, fully customizable
i686-optimized binary packages
Rolling releases with bleeding edge package repositories

Cons: Not for the beginner or non-tech-savvy
It's Linux, for good AND for worse

user-friendly, comes with large no.precompiled softwares. Eye candy is included, audio,video codecs by default included
Cons: none so far.
