A fantastic intro to the music of Bill Frisell. It swings, but with sparse instrumentation. Not very aggressive, but articulate and inventive. Smooth, but wildly unpredictable.

A great intro to the music of Frank Zappa. This album consists of tracks recording between 1973/4, performed by Frank's favorite lineup: George Duke, Ruth Underwood, Napoleon Murphy Brock, Chester Thompson, the Fowler brothers, and other top-notch musicians. Slightly raucous, slightly silly, slightly political, yet always groove-centered, these songs should please even the most jaded rock snob.
