The little search engine that could.. blekko is experimenting with human curated "slashtags" that allow you to conduct more relevant searches by cutting through all the clutter and spam.
Not sure how scalable the model is, but it's definitely worth a try!

Even as a huge Google fan, I have to admit that this app is beautiful and is much better designed than the Google iPad app. It's way more than a search app - browse news content, trends, and more within a wonderfully designed UI.
