Breaking Bad is incredible. Jaw dropping character development, captivating plot, fast paced, invigorating, artful. Breaking Bad is challenging, engrossing; elevates T.V. to an art form. Watch this show and be prepared to redefine BEAUTY.

The purest friendships in my life have been those with animals, especially with my Pug, Banana Smashie. Pugs are clownish with their curly tails, large, round eyes, and wrinkled, flat faces. They also happen to be the friendliest breed I've ever met. Easy to love for their intelligence and warmth, but beware! Pugs are obsessed with food! Don't forget to spay/neuter & adopt from a shelter :)

Never before, nor since reading A Confederacy of Dunces, have I richly laughed throughout a book. The protagonist, Ignacius J. Reilly, is eccentric, idealistic, and creative, sometimes 2 the point of delusion. His mother, Irene, hides Muscatel in the oven! You will be mesmerized by the magnificent characters, language, and setting. No! U will be mesmerized by the entire book, from start 2 finish!

I rec that U read this fascinating piece on the effects of Twitter on our brains. Author and executive editor of The New York Times, Bill Keller wonders whether the new technologies overtaking us may B eroding characteristics that R essentially human: our ability 2 reflect, our pursuit of meaning, genuine empathy, a sense of community connected by something deeper than snark or political affinity

I rec that you mail a hand written letter to an important person in your life. Flex your artistic muscles when choosing a card, envelope, stamp, style of handwriting, diction, & INTIMACY. Thoughtful, provocative handwritten letters are so rare nowadays that they R the postal equivalent of winning the lottery. Though you may not realize it, you own the power 2 bring JOY into the lives those you <3

I rec Point Reyes Station as a downright pleasurable weekend getaway destination. U would never guess from the lush fauna & flora, sparkling Tomales Bay, and small town charm, that PRS is a mere 37 miles N. of SF. I suggest you 1st stop at Cowgirl Creamery, purchase a Mt. Tam, Rogue River Blue, and your favorite cheese + a bottle of bubbly and head to Hearts Desire Beach for a dazzling adventure.

I recommend TechCrunch as the best reference for what's HOT in the tech world. They are dedicated to obsessively profiling startups, reviewing new Internet products, and breaking tech news. Last year I attended their TechCrunch Disrupt conference here in SF and met MC Hammer & Chamillionaire. In addition, it was loads of fun and learning. Follow @techcrunch on Twitter for the latest in tech :)

I recommend you watch Hugh Jackman's exclusive, only in SF, performance at the Curran Theater from May 3 - May 15. He sings his favorite Broadway musical numbers, and he dances too! Towards the end, he reprises his Tony award winning role as Peter Allen in "The Boy From Oz". I cried tears of joy throughout this extraordinary performance and cried more when I got to meet him afterwards!

Hyperion is an astonishingly imagined monolith of a book. Set 700 years after the 21st century, mankind lives on multiple planets across the galaxy. The characters & plot are spellbinding to the point that reading this book is pure pleasure. The prose is punctuated by poetry, especially that of poet titan Jean Keats. And the best part of all this? There's a sequel titled The Fall of Hyperion.

An important staple in any robust and balanced wardrobe is a hella good pair of designer jeans. @JBrandJeans is a very close runner up (and u should def check them out!), but I recommend Rich & Skinny above all others because of their superior versatility in style, wash, color, and fit.

Huntington Park is one of the most beautiful spots in San Francisco. Nestled between the stunning Grace Cathedral and Flood Mansion, it is surrounded by incredible architecture, perched atop San Francisco's famous Nob Hill. Dogs of every size & breed frolic here, and don't be surprised if you see the occasional celebrity. Huntington Park is a little slice of heaven.

When you bite into an Ike's Place sandwich you'll think you've died and gone to sandwich heaven. They are, without question, the best sandwiches in San Francisco. My favorite, and the one I recommend the most, is called the: Menage a Trois. PS call ahead and place your order in advance thereby avoiding the hours long wait at the door.

ditto +lynnschroder! and in classic SF style, they have a HUGE range of vegan, veggie, gluten-free and of course, meat sandwiches. my fav is the Tony Soprano. have only been to the SF spot (3489 16th Street, San Francisco, CA 94114), but heard they have locations in Redwood Shores and near the Stanford Campus also.

lynnschroeder

lynnschroeder commented 2 years, 1 month ago

you're absolutely right Shaival. I just fucking hate the South Bay so I try to avoid it! Thanks for recommending the Tony Soprano, I'll def order that sandwich next time.

Ha ha this is hysterical. Honey badgers are crazy animals. I was in South Africa last summer and we weren't allowed outside at night because of these guys (and the other wild animals). Even the locals were frightened by these things. They're like huge skunks with fangs. Perfect commentary.

A great entry into the cyberpunk genre, you'll have trouble setting this book down once you being reading the first chapter. The protagonist's name is Hiro Protagonist and in addition to being a talented programmer, he's the worlds best sword fighter. Fun fact: this book inspired both Second Life and Google Earth. bit.ly/h3jLf7

Conveniently located in San Francisco's Financial District, excellent service with even better food. I love their buttermilk fried chicken and pot roast. Plus, the last time I dined there, I sat next to the celebrity Ted Danson of the hit series Cheers. bit.ly/fk5SRU
