"And if I laugh at any mortal thing, 'tis that I may not weep." - Robert Burns
If you're in grad school, you get this comic, and it gets you.
Cons: There's only so many jokes you can make about grad school.

The author has created a whole new world with flesh-out religions, anthropomorphic wombat and hyena cultures, and oddballs (prophetic slugs make me laugh every time). Great art, good story.
Cons: The comic doesn't seem as tightly written recently, possibly because the series is ending and the author has other projects.

The combo of sci-fi, fantasy, and mythology makes the Court a wondrous place to explore, and we see it through the eyes of 2 young students. Not a Harry Potter remake.
Cons: Antimony uses too much eyeliner? Hard to think of a con.

Great art, fun characters, interesting story, this comic has it all. It's tagline is: "Adventure, Romance, Mad Science!" If you like steampunk, this is a must read.
Cons: It's a graphic novel released one page at a time, which disrupts the flow when reading. Best to wait and read each chapter/section altogether.

A love letter to the original computer geeks, Lovelace and Babbage. The artist is a professional computer animator, and it shows in the composition and character design.
Cons: Updates irregularly.

If you like xkcd, you'll very likely like Abstruse Goose.
Cons: You won't read it for the art.

Shaenon Garrity is one of my favorite webcomic writers because very few people can regularly deliver laughs in a 4-panel format without going stale. Great characters and inventive storylines.
Cons: This was the author's first big webcomic, so the artwork is less developed toward the beginning.

If you want a comic that will have you running off to wikipedia to read up on new things, this comic is for you. Or look at events and historical figures in a different light.
Cons: Artwork takes a little getting used to.

Good for people looking for RPG jokes (primarily D&D) or an epic, sprawling story you'd expect from someone who writes for the industry. Diverse characters, good laughs, compelling story.
Cons: The art won't win any awards, but it is surprisingly functional, and you probably have a good imagination to want to read an RPG webcomic anyway.

One of the few newspaper comics willing to rock the boat. Pig is endearing, and Rat is deliciously cynical.
Cons: No author can deliver laughs 7 days a week without rehashing themselves eventually.

Sad, but in a cathartic way. The irony reminds us sometimes there's more important things than we spend most of our time worrying about.
Cons: Sad. Some comics don't attempt to be meaningful or profound and are just bizarre.
