Yes, it's over-inflated sugar-coated digital dross. But when something like that has its stories and characters treated with the same kind of respect that Pixar gives its just as artificial sprites thrown up on the screen; you feel for what happens to the characters and the superheroic things they do on screen to save Earth! Starts slow but ends up being the live comicbook king, usurping Superman

You probably shouldn't put a story in the upper echelon of ratings due to its score and cinematography -- but this movie was ahead of its time while at the same time came before the digital age of fake tapestries and virtual camera angles, so it still feels VERY weighty! And that final scene will stick with you the rest of your life... just brilliant!

Was able to bring big ideas across in an iconic visual way to a modern mainstream audience without becoming a heavy-handed slog. Kept it mostly lightweight and fast moving.
