One of the 3 members of the Lychee group (in my mind) Lychees are red and bumpy, Longans (long yan=dragons eye) tan and bumpy, and Rambutans(from the chinese Hong Mao Dan meaning red hair egg) are red with a hairlike surface. Lychees probably taste the best but are fairly uncommon next to Rambutans which are the most widespread. A beautiful sweet fruit especially off the tree!!

Sweet, juicy taste, with firm flesh that has a pleasant texture. They last a while and are better than candy.
Cons: Can be difficult to get and take a bit of peeling. Don't eat the seeds, they can make you ill.
