Yeah, good thing I just bought a new MBP 2 weeks ago.

I love this laptop; so elegant; so easy to use!
pizatski recommended this 2 years, 2 months ago
It's what I use for work. Fast, easy to use, unobtrusive, and hardware that stays clean and can take a pounding.
Cons: Don't mind being a hippie. It's being offered PBR and a ride on a fixie everywhere I go that bothers me...
thudson recommended this 2 years, 2 months ago
By all accounts, a big jump in speed and the new I/O, Thunderbolt, sounds awesome (plug many devices with different I/O into one port - if i understand it correctly).
thudson commented 2 years, 2 months ago
@cmercando - ow. that happened to me a few years back. they should give you a % refund or something.
volkan commented 2 years, 2 months ago
Seems like an incremental upgrade to me. Even though Thunderbolt sounds awesome, I don't know of many devices that support it, so you'll probably not miss much by skipping this MacBook Pro.
hugo commented 2 years, 2 months ago
seems like every new macbook just changes its ports so you have to buy all new adapters.

Incredible design, out of the box usage with little to no setup time. It's Apple and it's what they do. Multi-touch trackpad will increase your productivity as you're not hovering with a mouse to perform common actions.
Cons: Wish they would just increase that dedicated video to 1GB already. Not a deal breaker though.

Strong laptop, fast, excellent OS, stylish. Good battery life. Make sure to get the non-reflective screen. Have it.
Cons: Reflective screen is hard to use in many light conditions.

LOVE! Stable & intuitive. Have run modeling programs on the vmware for Windows-works well. Perfect screen size for working at for hrs. Apple replaced battery with low charge (after yrs of use)
Cons: Expensive (but worth it for the time NOT spent troubleshooting bugs/fixes like with PCs)

User experience and a seamless hardware-software marriage. Great form, with attractive industrial and mechanical design. Appropriate selection of ports and peripheral compatibility. Battery life.
Cons: Comparatively expensive to many non-Apple laptops. Surcharge for anti-glare display.

Best computer for dollar in Mac laptop portfolio. Smaller screen is minor sacrifice for significant discount.
Cons: Smaller screen doesn't reduce weight as much as I'd like. Stupid front ledge is sharp and can annoy wrists. New adapters grrr.

Pretty light-weight, fast, easy to use, great for editing films with imovie and creating jingles with garageband
Cons: Cant think of any at the moment

Runs OS X, great construction, very sturdy, back-lit keyboard, lovely screen, light weight, powerful, you can get a matte display IF you want, great battery life
Cons: sharp edges that can hurt your wrists (depending how you type), need an adapter/cable to hook up firewire 400 drives to firewire 800 port

One of the best laptops.
Cons: Expensive.

Simply the best choice. You can do everything you want on this and never feel underpowered or scared of loosing your work. Apple is a name you can trust with your life.
Cons: Does not make breakfast.

Grab a refurb'd 2008 model (FB134LL) from the Apple store. You'll save big bucks, and get a matte screen.
Cons: The new MBPs have glossy screens which can be hard to view in bright locations. Some love 'em, some hate 'em.
mikewest recommended this 4 years, 1 month ago
It's beautiful, powerful, and is quite capable of supporting whatever you want to do with a computer. It's easily fast enough to run pretty much whatever you throw at it.
Cons: I don't think it's worth the price bump over the non-pro MacBook. Also, glossy screen. ARG.

Superior laptop with an incredible design, and my main machine these days. Beautiful display but see cons. Glass multi-touch trackpad and new-type keyboard are great once you get used to them.
Cons: Display is available in glossy only and the reflections are distracting especially outdoors. USB ports are physically close together some some cables cannot be plugged in simultaneously.

Multi-touch is a very nice feature. The single pad/button sometimes malfunctions but 90% of the time its an asset.
mike3k recommended this 4 years, 1 month ago
A good desktop replacement. Great performance. Easy to upgrade RAM and hard drive.
Cons: Heavy. Battery life isn't great. Prefer a matte display.
bringo recommended this 4 years, 1 month ago
The size of this unit will suit most people's needs perfectly. Great construction and materials used throughout the product.
Cons: The glossy display produces vibrant colors but has been a sticking point for some users.
Additional adapters are needed to make this product work with non Apple external displays.

Its a great mid-range laptop in terms of size and power. Great feature set and software.
Cons: friggin' expensive!
derekrose recommended this 4 years, 1 month ago
Great power and features, can easily be a desktop replacement for all but the most demanding users. Great connectivity options, stability, runs Mac OS X.
Cons: Can be expensive for someone with simple needs (try the MacBook), shiny glass display is a let-down for some people.
renaissancechambara recommended this 4 years, 1 month ago
Right balance between power and performance, not a bit of retarded design like the Air
Cons: Not keen on the new one's glossy screen
