Soon re-opening after a three-year restoration of its landmark Central Park West location, the New York Historical Society will reopen its Friday, November 11 (11.11.11). With new programs, exhibitions (like Making American Tast: Narrative Art for a New Democracy), this is the perfect place to get to know all of New York City's Secrets.

Always something unexpected here, and for researchers the library is simply grand.
Cons: Relatively little of its space devoted to exhibits.
