Im not Chinese but I did live in JiaXing, ZheJiang for about a year; so I am a bit of an authority on Zongzi... Instead of rice pudding, I would describe them as a Chinese Tamale made with sticky rice steamed inside of bamboo leaves, especially since one of the most common flavors is salt pork. Throw these in the river on the dragon boat festival to keep the fish from eating Qu Yuan's body.

sure,you are right and very familiar with Chinese traditions:) Food material of zonzi is different between south China and north China.But they are all delicious:-)The most authentic zong zi as well as this story is from south China.
