This is the kind of movie that gives you hope for film. Somehow, without being a sequel, without anyone from "Lost," Spielberg, or a comic-book franchise, this movie has actually reached theaters and is terrific. McDonagh, like his brother, knows comedy, sadness, dark humor, realistic oddballs, and ambiguity all go together to make a nice, Irish stew.

"The Guard" is written and directed by the brother of the writer and director of "In Bruges". If you liked that film then you'll enjoy this one too.
One of the best movies you'll see this year.
