This book burned me. It's rattling, excruciatingly sad, and well worth the read. Also, it goes without saying it was worlds better than the movie.

Read the book before the film comes out at Christmas, starring Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock. Intriguing and tender story of a boy searching the 5 boroughs of NY to unravel the mystery his father left behind on 9/11.

Another great NYC post-9/11 novel mostly from the point of view of a boy who lost his father. It's about loss, healing, memory. My college students adore this book, and I do too. Playfull, imaginative, moving, and verbally brilliant.

this should be the next novel you read. Gorgeous writing about what it means to be human. It would be hard to find a modern writer that unpacks love and suffering and family as well as Foer.

Really engaging, I wasn't expecting it to be so unable to put down. Foer manages to make me think like a child again, and is a great storyteller.
Cons: Ending is a bit anticlimactic, but very fitting.
