Anne Rice may have left the Catholic Church, but she was clearly at a point in her writing where she needed to share her love of God. Choosing to do so through angels was a masterstroke of brilliance on her part, and her storytelling has never been better as a result. She creates characters that are utterly real and believable, and for the span of the novel, you are with them totally. I loved it.
