Before seeing it, I wasn't sure whether or not these two completely movie topics could be successfully combined, but they really pulled it off.

Definitely could have been better but if it's a hot day and your in the mood for big action hollywood brain candy it's good.

I thought the premise was ridiculous but then I saw it and liked it but then if you're not hung up on Gan Solo and James Bond kicking alien ass you'll like it too!

It was fun. I like it even more after reading an interview w lead lady Olivia Wilde (io9) and her take on the character. She doesn't play a stereotypical love interest; she is generally dressed very plainly; and she is badass. Daniel Craig (unsurprisingly) delivers as a mysterious, stoic, but of course, really just lost and tender-hearted, character just trying to figure his sh*t out.

You think this movie will be cheesy but it's not. That's a good thing as it lets everyone enjoy the film, not just nerdy insiders like me. While it's loaded with cliches, this lets us compare and contrast the two genres of westerns and alien monster/invader films.
