Fascinating. The science is beyond my comprehension but I'm looking forward to the results. Even if they prove nothing, who knows other breakthroughs this device might provide?

plato's allegory of the cave seems apt if this experiment proves true, or would if actually be inverted...? *confused*

I was struck that once again interferometers are being used to probe spacetime. In the 19th century Michelson and Morley used one to prove that there was no ether pervading space. This led Einstein to discover special relativity.
This experiment will use two interfrometers to measure fluctuations in the vacuum. It's Michelson and Morley squared, and who knows what future Einstein it will inspire.

I recomend this simply because of the changes in reality it will cause people. If you do not support this do not say it is just a waste of money. Give a good reason you are not willing to look for truth, like I am lying to myself and people around because...

I'm starting to question the existence of the second dimension as well.

This is really cool from a uber-geek perspective. But if this contraption fails to result in better shaving technology, I'm just not that interested.

I guess this will tell us if m-theory is right in some of its more bizarre predictions.

This fun little piece of tech could completely change human understanding of the universe. Built by scientists at Fermilab to test whether or not our entire reality is simply a hologram being projected from a 2 dimensional surface at the edge of the universe. Aims to find a false 3rd dimension of time within our reality by magnifying space-time and searching for interference with lasers beams.
