Oh man, this is just so awesome! I'd love to have this kind of thing here in my country too...but there is quite a chance that the pianos would end up being stolen or something, *sign*. Besides, musical education is not all that common aroud here. But who knows, maybe one day...
88 public pianos in parks across NYC! This is one of the best uses of public space I've ever enjoyed. Coming upon someone playing beautiful piano music in the middle of a city park is a wonderful experience. It often lures other instruments in as well for accompaniment!
I've been playing the Tompkins Square Park one late at night since I don't know how to play the piano... ;)
Starting this weekend, 88 pianos will be setup across NYC for any passersby to take a seat and begin playing. This was run last year and is responsible for at least 2 of the most amazing memories i've got in this city.
