Great movie, good balances of character development and action. Soundtrack complemented the scenes. Reminded me of Jurassic Park in it's quality and pacing.

I always love to see a child actor actually do good and this movie has about 6 of them. The cinematography is beautiful and it seemed to me to be a pretty perfect of the late 70's time frame in which it takes place.

Predictable? Yes. Like a mix of E.T. and Cloverfield? Yes, but for me it was still a fantastic film. There is enough depth to the characters that you care for them, and the cinematography is amazing. Overall it's a great film with a lot of nostalgia for older sci-fi movie fans.

When you interrogate it, it's a bit of a puzzle. A film from the 80s, set in the 80s - like an attempt to remake Goonies with better special effects thirty years later. It's not life-transforming, but it is a really good little film, and definitely worth watching. Hopefully people will learn from it a bit.

Beautifully shot movie that is a throwback to a previous era of filmmaking. The movie is less about showing you cool CGI but instead taps into your imagination. Remember how in Jaws, you never saw the shark... Super 8 is bringing storytelling back to that level. A great summer flick, expect nothing more than a good time.

Excellent film. Doesn't try to force an ideal or some twist ending into the plot and therefore the whole thing seems natural.

A fine collaboration between J.J. Abrams and S. Spielberg. I had reasonable expectations, and, as a result, had a good time. Photography is great; the teenage love story is cute; plus, the early 80's style is very well mastered.

I saw super 8 this weekend, and I was disappointed. Although it was well-filmed and acted for the most part, it was very predictable and derivative.
