I've been listening to an advanced copy of this record and, after a few spins, I really like it. In terms of song-crafting and subject-matter, this latest installment represents another level of sophistication up from Humbug and has less of the uncut vitriol and snide cynicism of their early years. The result is a really good record by a band boldly redefining themselves.
couldn't stand Humbug, Josh Homme seemed to have taken his privelege as a producer too far and for me. i felt his input rather intrusive, kinda diluted the album. but i must say, i'm feeling this, thanks for the rec.
Oh lovely. The Sheriff streamed all their demos in 2006 and then got a massive bill from his hosting company. Everyone pitched in to help him pay, and everyone that did got invited to a private gig. Good days.
