Just finished this. Great read, flew through it. Great characters, fast paced plot, and interesting dialogs. I'm not a war buff, but I found the experiences of Soviet Russia WWII very interesting. Enjoyed it very much.
This book was so compelling that I read it nonstop over the course of one weekend. It tells the story of two Russian boys during World War II in a way that is upsetting, informative, and emotionally engaging.
My favorite exchange involves the main characters discussing how long one can go without taking a shit. It's sparked many a debate about the issue. A fun read that remains intelligent.
An intelligent story where reality and fiction blur seamlessly. As a movie and TV writer, David Benioff successfully keeps the reader enthralled throughout the entire book with a solid story, a good pace and well-defined characters.
