Really wonderful comprehensive museum that nicely encapsulates the history of film through interactive and traditional exhibits. It was like my film history class came to life. A must see for the film aficionado.
What a fantastic museum! New yorkers take heed and go. I've been here since 98, worked in the building next door, in the field of moving images, and still never got around to going. Go! "Real Virtuality" exhibit is up until june 15, worth catching.
Previously the Kaufman Astoria Studios, this treasure trove of film, television, and digital media history and accouterments is one of my favs in NYC. Redesigned last year to the tune of $67 million, the space is not only gorgeous but boasts engaging installations and a huge collection of classic video game hardware. Bonus: "Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?" and "The Wiz" were filmed here.
Shameless plug: I'll be throwing a Hunch-powered dance party with AutomaticDJ at the museum on May 7 along with a bevvy of other awesome video installations and musical performances.
