amazing food and museums. i had the best meal of my life in florence: hunch.com/item/hn_3702614/teatro-del-sale/
pro tip: you can buy tickets for any museum, at any other museum... in other words, you can skip the tickets line at popular museums by buying your tickets at an unpopular one (i can't remember if this is florence only, or italy in general).

The perfect place for a first trip to Italy, all Tuscany is accessible from here, and the number of museums and architectural landmarks is less overwhelming than in Roma.
The best time to go to Florence is Spring, but DO NOT fly there during the Easter week.

My favorite city and dream home. Cried when I had to leave -- the beauty was overwhelming.

I lived in Florence for about 2 months last summer taking classes, and it is really amazing. Love the restaurants, the nightlife, and the culture!

Great food, beautiful art, wonderful shopping, history, architecture, just wonderful.
Cons: Nothing out of the expected: tourists (this IS Italy), crowded, etc.
