I chanced across this jazzed up park last weekend, it’s just north of Chelsea Piers (24th street on the west side). It has a skatepark, a small carousel, and a bunch of grass! Could be paired decently well with a trip to the highline park. Here’s another article talking about it: www.thevillager.com/villager_370/carouselskate.html

yeah, it's very nicely done. Only issue: dogs are not allowed on grassy areas. (I guess that's a plus for some people). But this is a great extension to the Hudson River Park development.

Also a big new pier just opened down by tribeca. And if you haven't seen them, similar pier-parks are being built into the east river from brooklyn.

I look forward to seeing how the ones in Brooklyn develop.

Peter, I'm really liking all the NY park recommendations. Keep 'em coming and let's have a picnic in May. Sound good?

just south of here is a great community boat house if you feel compelled to commune with the ghosts of the manhattan shoreline and row around the Hudson in a whitehall gig.
I'm terrified of ghosts.
