Still gotta be the most powerful IDE on the planet. There's nothing Eclipse can do that Emacs can't ('course, it's a lot easier to do in Eclipse until you've gotten Emacs memorized). Virtually 0 memory footprint too, that's a boon!

Emacs is magic. The keybindings are found in any GNU readline application and every Mac OS X application. The editor is infinitely extensible and customizable.

A first-class, delightful text editor -cum- operating system. Myriad customizations and built-in functions make coding a snap.
If only every computer program was this scriptable...
