very clean and elegant, very fast and not too abstracted from the hw and OS. No magic.
Cons: have to be very disciplined to write manageable code.

Good language to learn the nuts and bolts of programming and how it works
Cons: can be a little comlicated if this is your first language to learn

Very close to the metal so you can make things run really fast. Great for your inner loops.
Cons: Pointers can really make your head spin if you're doing complicated data structures in memory.

Great if you're building a router or something.
Cons: Too low level for many tasks.
