Maggie Smith is a beast. And the hats, oh, the HATS! Surprisingly addictive (and well-acted) period soap for people who don't like soaps.

Another sumptuous English series. If you're not into period drama, this will make you a fan.

Really well done period series in the vein of a contemporary Upstairs Downstairs or Duchess of Duke Street(which is also well worth checking out)

Love the cast and the writing. Follow a family and their servants through WWI in England. Great period piece drama.

So addictive. Unlike other dramas, you actually like most of these characters. Set in 1912, it follows the adventures and misadventures of the family of an Earl and their household of servants. A fascinating glimpse into the end of feudalism, and worth watching for the costumes alone.

Clever dialogue, attention to detail, fantastic characters and Maggie Smith. What more could somebody ask?

Another example how great uk tv series are. Set in England in 1912 during the first world war, around the time the Titanic sunk. Its about a rich family and their servants (and their secrets) living in the countryside in Yorkshire. Amazing actors, fantastic scenery, great dialoges, moving stories. Season 2 has just started, but already a classic.
Most successful British costume drama since 1981.

I've only *now* started watching this series -- what a window into the life of British servants. I'm so happy I stumbled onto this series.

Wonderful, one of the best series of last year, without any doubt. A perfect masterpiece. With all the qualities of British television tradition, great costume designs and sets. So classy and an amazing cast too (including, the one and only Miss Maggie Smith, an english goddess)

The sets and characters are convincing bring you back one hundred years in pre-WW1 England. The show covers both servants and peers. The second season will be coming out soon, so catch up while you can.

Gorgeous costume drama set during the turn of the century. The acting is amazing, the characters are deplorable and a bit droll, but somehow endlessly entertaining. The music and cinematography are gorgeous.
