It's a good show. As in "Politically Incorrect", Bill Mahr is able to get a diverse panel together and have interesting and entertaining debates. Don't get me wrong, I like Bill Mahr. I think he is intelligent, clever and of course funny. However he is becoming more and the focus of his own show. Many times I find myself annoyed by his inability to digress from his own agenda.
Maher is an underrated interviewer. Some great guest correspondents like Matt Taibbi and Dan Savage. The closing monologue adds weight to the humor. Cons: The opening stand-up routine is hit or miss. The celebrity guests often seem out of their depth (this is probably the point but still frustrating).
I love the round table discussion sessions especially when he has both left and right wing guests. "New Rules" is funny. Cons: Bad opening monologue - must forward through this if you have a DVR or Tivo.
