Japan sure loves it's mecha; and tearing Judeo-Christian mythology a new one. But seriously, this series is so deep and complex that it will demand subsequent re-viewings in order to understand all of what's going on in it (especially as the first series didn't tie everything up so neatly, not their fault).

a major component of any well-rounded anime education/collection, interesting, if you enjoy psychological thrillers and violence, this series is for you.
Cons: NGE is such a huge franchise that it is difficult to determine what is "canon."
