Good plot, great actors, nice for a crime series that there is no csi lab in focus the whole time.

Phenominal! Witty, thrilling, and humorously entertaining.

An incredibly fresh take on the classic Sherlock Holmes universe - comes highly recommended due to the surprisingly modern update!

The dynamic betwixt Sherlock and Watson, and even how it's placed in the modern era makes this amazing.

An unexpected and surprisingly fresh take on Sherlock Holmes. I wish there were more episodes.

Simply amazing. Every part is so intricately crafted - from the characterization, to the script, to the acting, to the cinematography - it's engaging and breathtaking.

I didn't expect to like this, but it's actually very entertaining.

Benedict Cumberbatch is an amazing Sherlock Holmes.

Amazing photography, witty writing, superb performances by Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. I cried my heart out at the end of season 2.
God, I love the Brits.
Cons : Irene Adler depiction was profoundly cliché and was off-track with the rest of the serie, I think.

Fantastic cinematography, acting, and writing. A whole new perspective on Holmes and Watson as proper well-rounded characters, unlike some "modernizations". Plus, it's really, really, really pretty.
Moffat, pat yourself on the back.

As a Holmes fan, it is great to see a modern take on an immortal classic - particularly when it's done well. I'm looking forward to more...

Amazingly clever and throughly enjoyable. I was addicted to the older series but this new series outdoes the old.
Sherlock is still the same lovable, quirky character.

A delightfully written show that both brings in new and interesting concepts and remains surprisingly conscientious of the source material it is based upon.

Fantastic story, great acting all around. Although it's set in 2010, it really stays true to Doyle's Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. I wasn't so sure about this modern take on my favorite character (and first crush, don't tell anyone), but Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are perfect.

The uk shows just dont dissappoint. Only 3 episodes yet, second season is on the way. First time ever the best known story of Sherlock Holmes and Watson is transferred to the London of today. Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) and Martin Freeman (Watson) are the protagonists. Sherlock, perfectly portrayed as an arrogant, selfish mastermind that thinks so fast that nobody can follow. Must see!

Just tuned into this show the other day, the seasons are really short, but they're amazing and worth it! New season in 2012 I hear!
robinsonl167 recommended this 1 year, 9 months ago
One of the most engaging, intelligent, and entertaining shows on television. A lovely homage to the original stories, as well as previous adaptations of Sherlock Holmes.
lynettifoo recommended this 1 year, 9 months ago
You wouldn't expect a modernisation of any classic detective series would be good, but then Sherlock comes along and does a fantastic job of it. Clever and witty and a compelling watch.

A brilliant BBC update consisting of three 90 minute episodes introducing the main characters.
Dr. John Watson, just returned from Afghanistan (plus ca change), meets the "high functioning sociopath" Sherlock Holmes. Together, they investigate three extraordinary crimes that have the police baffled. All are centred around a name that no one will speak.
I can't wait for the second series.
tb3rg3r recommended this 1 year, 11 months ago
It started off great with an exciting first episode but the second and third one weren't as great (but still totally watchable).
Thanks to the good actors and great production i'll check out the second season.

Can't wait to see the second season. Best thing on television in the last little while.

Sherlock Holmes and Watson in 2010 London? Sounded like a gimmick to me, and I expected it to fall flat. Boy, was I wrong. They nailed it! Beautiful production. Both the actors are top notch, but Freeman (play Holmes) is superb. Don't miss it.

The best so far. Episode 2 is a little weak, but 1 and 3 are killer.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, how so awesome? Can't wait for season 2.
ayngemac recommended this 1 year, 12 months ago
Freakin' awesome: Holmes and Watson in the 21st century. Makes me wonder if Jeeves and Wooster would work in the now.... But three episodes for the first season? THREE?? What the hell?
audiblenod recommended this 2 years ago
british wit and classic storytelling make this a good series. Waiting for more.

Wonderful take on the classic book series! The casting is perfect, along with amazingly-written script and stunning production.
Cons: Issues on gender and race (See: orientalism in the Blind Banker) is BEYOND problematic.
northerlywind recommended this 2 years, 7 months ago
Absolutely fantastic remaking of a classic story. Modern setting yet still the same brilliant characters! The acting is just amazing.
steinertown recommended this 2 years, 7 months ago
Funny, smart and pitch-perfect contemporary take on THE original detective story. I think that Cumberbatch is my favorite Holmes ever. I also have a small crush on this Dr. Watson.
Cons: Like tortoiseshell, I'm really bummed that the season ended so quickly. It has been picked up for a 2nd season though, and hopefully PBS will run it again so us anglophiles can watch it stateside!
tortoiseshell recommended this 2 years, 7 months ago
Fantastic show, brilliant casting and acting and writing!!!
Cons: They've only made 3 episodes!
