Crafts beautiful prose, incredibly prolific, writes in varied genres
Cons: Required reading in school can turn people off to him, film adaptations of his books/stories often suck

Fahrenheit 451! You can get so much great discussion out of this book. You'd be surprised at how much people react to it.
Cons: ... maybe not for everyone.
