The mood. Oh, the mooood of this movie. So amazing. Great for anyone that has ever lived alone in a big city full of sleepless nights. Neon, wet pavement, contemplation filled nights. These are the things that make me feel like a Taxi Driver.
This is a fantastic movie, and provides a fascinating inventory of midtown Manhattan in the mid-'70s. It's a stark contrast of the post-Giuliani, Disneyfied Times Square area. Where did all the hookers & junkies go, anyway?
